Stepping Stones in Life Therapy Service has a Part-time & Full time position for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Darwin Team. Experience is preferred but not essential.

If you have a background in mental health and teaching (e.g. social work, psychology, counselling, education) and disability this might be a role for you.

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will:

  • Improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through personalised behaviour support plans.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including families, caregivers, and other allied health professionals.
  • Utilise assessments such as functional behavior analysis to inform individualised support plans.
  • Implement strategies and interventions with a focus on holistic wellbeing and strengths.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and ethical guidelines.

Regular Remote travel is involved as we deliver services across the Northern Territory. The following is required for the role:

  • NDIS worker screening check, Australian drivers license, first aid certificate, OCHRE card and Current
  • Criminal History check within last 3 months.
  • demonstrated experience working with individuals across the lifespan (children and adults) with disabilities and complex behaviours,
  • Be passionate about helping people grow to achieve their full potential,
  • Ability to work with clients with challenging behaviours,
  • Have good stress management strategies in place,
  • able to think quickly on your feet, have flexible thinking and can adapt to change,
  • Can work independently, autonomously and in a team environment,
  • Is solution focused,
  • experience with writing reports and understanding causes/ triggers behind behaviours,
  • have a background in psychology, mental health studies, counselling, clinical social work, teaching.
