Ensuring a sustainable NSW through climate change and energy action
- Play a critical role in protecting NSW's energy reliability and community safety during emergencies.
- Two newly created and permanent opportunities
- Full-time (35 hours per week) flexible working available
- Location - Parramatta; attendance at office required
- Clerk Grade 7/8 - salary ranges from $113,574 - $125,720 plus superannuation
We're looking for two Energy Emergency Management Officers to support readiness, response and recovery for energy and utilities in all emergencies across NSW.
As part of our dynamic Energy Infrastructure team, you'll contribute to all-hazards emergency coordination across electricity, gas, liquid fuels, water, and wastewater. This includes participating in an on-call roster, deploying emergency response measures, and working closely with emergency services and industry partners to implement plans, manage consequences, and safeguard essential services.
About The Role
In this role, you'll support the operational readiness and emergency response capabilities of the Energy & Utility Services Functional Area (EUSFA), including participating in a 24/7 on-call roster as an Energy Emergency Management Duty Officer. You'll contribute to planning and preparedness activities, coordinate incident response across critical utility sectors, and deploy to emergency operations centres as a Liaison Officer.
Working closely with government, emergency services, and industry partners, you'll help implement response mechanisms, support consequence management, maintain key documentation, and contribute to training and exercise programs that strengthen NSW's all-hazards energy emergency preparedness.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and resilient individual with experience across the emergency management lifecycle - ideally with preparedness, response, and recovery. Knowledge of AIIMS and NSW emergency management arrangements is valuable.
With experience operating in high-pressure emergency environments and collaborating across agencies, you'll also have developing skills in planning, risk identification, and stakeholder engagement, and a strong understanding of multi-agency coordination and operational procedures.
Ideally, you will bring insights and perspective on how disruptions across electricity, gas, liquid fuels, water and wastewater sectors affect critical services and community safety.
- Tertiary qualification in energy and/or emergency management or other related field or equivalent experience to a tertiary qualification.
- Ability to be a part of a 24/7 on call roster, with potential of short notice deployments and activation to support emergency operations.
