Clinical Data Analyst – Centre for Health Analytics at The Royal Children's Hospital. Fixed Term Full Time position at 80 hours per fortnight.

RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years and provides a full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services, including tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients.
The Centre for Health Analytics enables partners to become an internationally leading paediatric campus in the use of data to improve patient care, operations, education, and research.
About the RoleThis is a Fixed Term Full Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Centre for Health Analytics. You will be responsible for extracting, analysing and visualising clinical data, and translating clinical requirements into validated data outputs. Working with clinicians, researchers and technical experts, you will ensure accurate interpretation of clinical data, support research and quality improvement, and optimise data use for patient care and operational insights.
Classification for this position will range from AO71-AO75 (FTE base salary $111,103 to $121,274 per annum, plus superannuation).
Responsibilities- Work with subject matter experts to analyse clinical data problems, design and document requirements for analytics solutions.
- Design, develop, review, and optimise data outputs including multi-table SQL queries of clinical data, visualisations, data analyses, insights – using SQL, R, Python, Power BI/Power Query and AI/ML.
- Prepare and maintain training and support documentation including knowledge and code repositories.
- Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment.
- A relevant tertiary degree in health science, health informatics, digital health, information technology, data science or equivalent with several years of relevant experience.
- Experience in design, implementation and validation of reports or extracts from a health information system (EMR, PAS or GP software).
- Understanding of the healthcare sector and health information systems, including data capture workflows, validation logic and reporting.
- Proficient with SQL; knowledge of R, Python, DAX, Power Query M or similar data manipulation languages.
