The Role

As a Youth Worker Trainee, you'll be one of the friendly faces and guiding hand for young individuals navigating their way through life's challenges. Developing skills to plan and deliver youth programs, provide case support and develop connections to better understand Mackay regional youth sector.

Timeframe

This is a 24-month traineeship. On completion you will obtain a Certificate IV in Youth Work.

This is a traineeship and is ideal for school leavers, those new to the industry or seeking a career change. Eligibility criteria apply if you hold existing qualifications in this area.

What You Will Need To Succeed
  • An active planner and problem-solver.
  • Enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good listener with a positive attitude and non-judgemental approach.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to provide high level of service to internal and external customers, including over the phone and face to face.
  • You're a team player, with the ability to learn from, and grow positive relationships with others.
  • Successful completion of Year 10 is desirable but not required.

It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy. Council is committed to the safety of its employees and requires an immunisation program for identified roles. The successful applicant will be required to attend a post-employment immunisation assessment, by a health practitioner nominated and paid for by the Council.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a pre-employment Medical and Drug and Alcohol test as part of the onboarding process.
