Job Title: HD Mechanic – Heavy Mining Equipment

Location: WA

Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our company that values your lifestyle and offers a flexible roster with job security and stability and real career progression opportunities in the West Australian mining equipment sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of Heavy mining machinery and equipment. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety protocols in a high-demand industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on mining equipment such as excavators, loaders, drills, trucks, and crushers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure optimal performance of machinery.
• Assemble and install new equipment components, ensuring proper fit and function according to technical specifications.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify worn or defective parts and recommend repairs or replacements as needed.
• Interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics to perform repairs and modifications on equipment.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with the maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, repairs, and parts used.
• Assist in the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Operate tools and equipment such as forklifts, EPWs, welding machines, and hand tools as required.
• Prepared to work FIFO rosters as required.
• Have good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic within the Heavy mining equipment industry.
• Trade certification as a Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems used in mining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Familiarity with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazard identification.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised in remote or field locations as required.
• Have basic skills in welding and fabrication.
• Have good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships.

Certificates required:

• A police clearance
• Current WA driver's license
• Working at heights
• Air-con ticket
