About the role
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the healthcare team including consumers / carers, other health professionals, general practitioners, and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Surgical Nursing within a hospital setting.
The Surgical Unit operates a seven-day, 24-hour service that provides timely access to high-quality, evidence-based, efficient, and safe patient-focused care for various surgical specialties. These include: General Surgery, Colo-rectal, Biliary, Urology, Plastics, Breast, Facial Maxillary, and Ear, Nose, and Throat. The unit handles major and minor surgical operations as well as acute surgical admissions. Currently, it oversees Urodynamic services and maintains strong connections with Prostate Cancer Nurse / Navigator, CNC Stoma, CN Urodynamics, and Incontinence Nurse Navigator. We aim to support, encourage, and develop all staff within the service, fostering a culture of learning to ensure a capable and educated nursing workforce.
About you
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Advanced clinical knowledge in Surgical Nursing, delivering expert care in complex situations while supporting and guiding team members.
- The ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
- Effective communication skills with healthcare team members, patients, relatives, and visitors, maintaining a positive workplace culture through consultation, liaison, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Honesty, integrity, and respect for all patients, carers, and staff.
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others.
- Alignment with the West Moreton Health Professional Practice Model, demonstrating person-centred care, professional excellence, safe and effective care delivery, commitment to quality and safety, and collaborative practice.
Mandatory Requirements :
- Vaccinated against, and remaining vaccinated against, certain vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the policy.
