The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for improving the performance of franchisee businesses as part of a growing, sustainable retail distribution network. This role primarily allocates time to planning, scheduling, and undertaking on-site visits with decision-makers in franchised businesses. The long-term sales growth is underpinned by identifying opportunities to optimise customer access to lotteries by growing a sustainable distribution network.
The BDM will coach and support approximately 200-250 franchised retail outlets in the geographical territory, with a focus on growing lottery sales, improving customer experience, and strengthening the retailer's overall viability. As the primary point of contact for retailers, the BDM will leverage experience with various retail outlets and collaborate with Retail Operations Consultants to build recommendations for performance improvements.
The BDM will coach retailers and their teams to adopt new initiatives for growth where lotteries is fundamental to long-term business viability. This is a 6-month contract in the Brisbane South/Gold Coast region.
What you\'ll do- Franchisee Support and Coaching: conduct regular, planned interactions with retailers, providing strategic and practical guidance in digitally enabled, customer-led initiatives to improve customer experience and retail/digital channel convergence; develop action plans to improve performance and profitability.
- Performance Analysis and Monitoring: monitor franchise site performance by analysing financial reports, sales data and operational metrics; use benchmarking to frame opportunities for improvement.
- Relationship Management: build strong relationships with franchisees, act as primary contact for inquiries on business strategy and performance; coordinate with Retail Operations Consultants to address operational matters.
- Training and Development: identify training needs within the franchise network and coordinate with Training to develop relevant programs.
- Performance Reporting and Analysis: use franchisee performance reports to inform discussions with retailer decision-makers and communicate updates to senior management.
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Franchise Business Consultant, Regional Manager, or similar role with a large portfolio (preferably hundreds of sites).
- Knowledge of the franchising industry and experience in retail or service-oriented franchises is desirable.
