About this unique opportunity

We are keen to hear from all interested Psychiatrists including:

  1. Early-career Psychiatrists looking for a supportive clinical team to consolidate your knowledge and experience gained from your RANZCP Fellowship;
  2. Mid-career Psychiatrists looking to practice your skills in contemporary psychiatry practices, including a support environment to learn and practice TMS;
  3. Late-career/pre-retirement Psychiatrists looking for a flexible role in a cohesive team with an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the next generation of Psychiatrists and provide much needed mental health services for our community.

We are open to the following options:

  1. Initial locum contract with transition to ongoing role when you realise what a great place Tasmania is to live and how much you enjoy working at The Hobart Clinic;
  2. Direct appointment to an ongoing role because you already know about the joys of living in Hobart and working with us;
  3. Any proposal to partner with a like-minded organisation interested in working with us to provide access to much needed Psychiatrists.

Full-time or part-time options are available. We offer competitive remuneration packages and support for relocation is available. We will also support Psychiatrists interested in mixed arrangements, for example working part-time as an employee and establishing a private VMO practice. We are also interested in exploring opportunities to provide part on-site and part-remote via telehealth.

The Hobart Clinic Association Limited is a Not-For-Profit Company Limited by Guarantee, and registered Charity. We operate a 27-bed psychiatric hospital on 7 acres in Rokeby, an outer suburb of Hobart, and The Hobart Clinic MindHub in Hobart CBD providing consulting suites and facilities for therapeutic groups.

In a year when many non-government Psychiatric hospitals have been closing down, 2024 is the year that The Hobart Clinic celebrates our 40-year anniversary. We are an important part of the fabric of our community.

'The Clinic' enjoys strong support from the Tasmanian Government and a positive collaborative relationship with our colleagues in the Tasmanian Health Service. With a new Public-in-Private contract underway with options to extend, we have a positive financial outlook this year and beyond.

The only thing missing at The Hobart Clinic is you – Psychiatrists with old-fashioned values who enjoy providing contemporary in-patient, day-patient and out-patient consultant psychiatry work.

The Clinic has a highly engaged Board of Directors, new Strategic Plan, committed and capable people-oriented CEO, newly appointed Executive Management Team, stable team of experienced and qualified mental health nurses and deeply dedicated support teams.
