Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia's leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote, and manage the conduct of thoroughbred horse racing in Victoria to safeguard its integrity. RV also oversees Racing.com Media (RDCM), which creates and distributes racing media content.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator who will play a key role in fostering a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace across RVG. In this role, you will lead the ongoing development and daily operation of our Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), champion best practice OH&S standards, and drive engagement, consultation, and ownership of safety responsibilities at every level of the business. This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen our safety culture and support the wellbeing of our people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the continued development and daily operation of the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), including SOPs, registers, and compliance documentation.
  • Review, update, and maintain RVG OH&S policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislation and best practice.
  • Oversee hazard and incident reporting processes, supporting the identification and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics including incidents, near misses, LTIs, and audit outcomes.
  • Coordinate and support safety committees and HSR forums, ensuring effective consultation and communication.
  • Support emergency management processes such as fire drills and evacuations.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver health and safety training to RVG employees.
  • Build strong relationships across business units and the wider industry to promote engagement and accountability in safety practices.
  • Support managers in understanding and complying with their OH&S responsibilities.

About You

You are passionate about creating safe and supportive workplaces and thrive on building positive relationships that encourage shared ownership of safety outcomes. With a strong understanding of OH&S principles and compliance, you bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to managing risks and supporting people.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within a complex or high-risk environment.
  • Knowledge of OH&S legislation, compliance, and management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating safety committees, training, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to analyse data and prepare reports on safety performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative and proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

What We Offer

  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
  • A collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • On-site facilities, including a subsidised café and free parking.
