Mental Health Clinician, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS) - Sutherland Mental Health Service

Remuneration: $56.59 - $65.22 per hour, plus superannuation

The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS) provides time-limited, intensive specialist perinatal and infant mental health support. Services include direct patient care (home visiting, clinic appointments, in-reach) and consultation for a range of severe or complex perinatal mental health disorders. The service supports parents and their infants who are experiencing significant mental health issues and are pregnant or have a child under two years old.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior clinical leadership and direct patient care within PIMHS, supporting parents and infants with severe, acute, or complex mental health conditions.
  • Deliver and coordinate time-limited, intensive perinatal and infant mental health care, including home visiting, clinic appointments, and in-reach as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Engage in consultation with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery and clinical practice improvement.
  • Contribute to education, development of tools or programs to support service excellence and clinical practice within the team.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
  • Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualifications in accordance with NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award; current full registration with AHPRA and/or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or qualifications in Psychology with a recognized four-year degree and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) with relevant experience; or current Authority to Practice and current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration experience and qualifications.
  • Extensive postgraduate clinical experience in mental health, with experience working with families of infants in the perinatal period facing severe and complex psychosocial and psychiatric issues; knowledge of the impact of mental health on parenting, parent-infant relationships, and infant development.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision-making and advocacy skills; ability to engage constructively with a diverse range of stakeholders and provide consultation both within and external to the organisation.
  • Ability to provide high-level clinical advice and develop education tools or programs to support service excellence.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, applying advanced reasoning and independent professional judgement to novel, complex, or critical situations.
  • Experience leading quality improvement and service evaluation initiatives; ability to advise managers on clinical service development and service redesign.
  • Current unrestricted NSW driver's licence and willingness to travel.
