Financial Accountant / Business Accountant (Grade 7/8)

Location: Parramatta CBD, NSW

Contract: 12-month contract

Rate: $70–$75 per hour + Super

Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced Financial or Business Accountant with strong government accounting experience and PRIME system skills? Join the NSW State Government in a pivotal role supporting critical financial operations across a dynamic public sector team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare key financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for compliance and strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial transaction records.
  • Identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and lodge tax returns in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Liaise with auditors and coordinate audit processes.
  • Analyse financial data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities for performance improvement.

About You
  • Demonstrated experience in financial and business accounting, within a government or organisation or department.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in PRIME (essential). Experience with MyWorkZone and SAP highly regarded.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
