Overview

Your day as an Economist involves supporting the delivery of high-quality analysis, research and modelling to inform government decision making and policy development. Your core responsibilities include building and maintaining macroeconomic and fiscal models, data analysis and reporting, and conducting research on economy topics, with emphasis on key Government priority areas.

Proactively building robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential, as is contributing to improved outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts. You will join the Economic Strategy and Productivity Group within the Macroeconomy Division and work with the Macroeconomic Analysis, Research and Strategy (MARS) and Structural Analysis and Modelling (SAM) teams. Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of high-quality analysis, research and modelling to inform government decisions and policy development
  • Build and maintain macroeconomic and fiscal models
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting
  • Undertake research into areas of interest pertaining to the economy, especially key priority areas for Government
  • Build robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicate results effectively
Qualifications
  • Hold relevant qualifications or experience in economics
  • Ability to apply economic policy across diverse reform issues
  • Clear communication of complex ideas in various formats
  • Ability to analyse critically and solve problems with evidence
  • Understanding of financial impacts and budget considerations
