About the role:
Reporting to our Executive General Manager Telecommunications Fixed Networks, we have an opportunity for an Operations Manager Delivery to join our team at Ventia. In this role, you will provide leadership and management to a team of multidiscipline construction personnel, coordinating resources in support of their project execution timeframes, budgets, quality specifications, safety, and the expectation of our client and other interest groups.

You will co-design and support the implementation of our strategic growth plans and drive innovation through systems, processes, and people for diversity in operations, ensuring competitive advantage and high performance aligned with enterprise improvement initiatives.

Working closely with the fixed Networks leadership team and partnering with the wider Telecommunications sector, you will lead and influence the strategic field operations, determining mechanisms to implement the strategy and support a portfolio of major projects.

Based from our North Sydney corporate head office, this position offers flexible hybrid working with time in the office, face-to-face with internal and external stakeholders, and work from home. There will also be a need for interstate travel when required. We are open to other location bases for the right applicant.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Proactively forecast, plan and review construction work in conjunction with relevant project personnel in accordance with the program of work and other contractual requirements.
  • Facilitate and manage a team of superintendents and area managers nationally to ensure major projects are delivered to budget, schedule, and quality specifications.
  • Be the primary point of contact for the engagement of subcontractors, monitoring and managing performance and ensuring resources meet project delivery milestones.
  • Manage all site/area supervisor employee contracts in relation to the EBA, IR, and HR requirements.
  • Promote innovative approaches to construction issues and variations that optimise profitability while ensuring service excellence.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and improvements across the board in delivery, operational excellence, transformation programs, and safety to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Represent Ventia in the communities we operate to enhance the Ventia brand experience for those that rely on critical infrastructure for essential services.

About you:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive Operational and Project Management exposure within a complex business at scale that is client-facing.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership capability working with national remote and diverse teams.
  • Well-developed knowledge in program delivery, change management, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional business acumen and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident in business partnering with a wide variety of stakeholders including operational areas and members of our senior Executive Leadership Team.
