Significant opportunity for a visionary Artistic Director to lead Australia's most exciting, engaging and defiant arts event

  • Boldly Brisbane – Australia's most exciting, engaging and defiant arts event
  • Transforming the city into a stage with a creative, innovative and inclusive program
  • Significant opportunity for a visionary Artistic Director to lead one of Australia's top festivals

We believe that a Festival should be festive and celebrate the personality of its city.

Brisbane Festival is unlike other arts festivals. We redefine what an International Arts Festival looks and feels like. The river and iconic city landmarks are our stage as we create the art that enlivens, delights and disrupts.

Our multi-arts program presents a bold international program transporting our audience beyond the everyday through captivating performances and installations from across the world.

Brisbane is a city with boundless ambition, and the program celebrates this through collaborations, commissions and presentations.

We are deeply committed to making the impossible possible for our audiences and our artists. Brisbane Festival is an important time of the year when our artists are pushed beyond the horizon to make the work of their dreams come to life.

We inspire audiences with new ideas and experiences that leave life-long impressions. We are at the heart of integrating arts and culture as a vital part of Brisbane's future, creating an unwavering demand for this wonderful Festival.

Positioned as the premier Festival in Queensland as the state prepares for the 2032 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, Brisbane Festival is seeking an Artistic Director who can build on this artistic and commercial success and lead the organisation through its next era of development.

This is a unique opportunity for a creative visionary to steer the organisation through the lead up to the Cultural Olympiad. With a brief to use the city as a stage, our next Artistic Director will be ambitious, collaborative and innovative – a visionary, commercially savvy arts leader with broad networks and the ability to inspire and motivate others.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate across borders, progress the festival's growing production footprint and work with other arts companies, shareholders, sponsors and donors. Expanding on and building new connections in the arts sphere and also with corporate, philanthropic and government stakeholders is an important part of the job.
