Overview

Ventia are seeking a Lifeguard / Gym Attendant to join our Defence Base Services contract. Reporting to the Sports and Recreation Supervisor, this position will be based at HMAS Cerberus, Crib Point, Mornington Peninsula and is responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of the pool area. You will also be stationed within the on-base gym to ensure it is kept clean and tidy for each day.

This is a casual role, with hours across a roster from Monday to Sunday that could vary from 6 – 24 hours per week. Shifts available are listed below.

Shifts
  • Monday – Thursday: 6.00am – 2.30pm (Morning Shift); 2.30pm – 9.00pm (Afternoon Shift)
  • Friday: 6.00am - 2.30pm (Morning Shift); 2.30pm - 8.00pm (Afternoon Shift)
  • Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays: 8:00am – 1:30pm (Morning Shift); 1:00pm – 7.00pm (Afternoon Shift)
Pay and eligibility

The pay rate for this position is $35.35 per hour inclusive of casual loading.

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian citizen and willing to undergo a police check.

Key Duties
  • Providing safety advice, performing rescues, first aid and resuscitation as required
  • Install or remove lane ropes during shifts for bookings
  • Follow daily checklists, remove leaves and debris
  • Maintain a tidy gym with a high level of cleanliness and put away used equipment
  • Conduct day-one inductions for new attendees, manage sign-ins and equipment checks
  • Answer general inquiries as needed
