Our Information Technology branch is currently seeking to appoint a Manager Cyber Security in this newly created role.

About the Role

As the Manager Cyber Security, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective and timely delivery of core cyber security services within the Cyber Security Group. This position is essential for fostering strong communication and collaboration across the Department's teams, service providers, and external vendors. You'll be responsible for maintaining consistency in engagement processes, including security assessments, project support, and the ongoing provision of Data, Digital, and IT services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Configuration Reviews of various SaaS Services.
  • Build and configure integrations with various security services in order to pull metrics and telemetry data to build dashboards
  • Participate in and manage incident response scenarios
  • Prepare communications for the DCCEEW wide cluster on Cyber and threat intelligence
  • Know how to use basic level security tools to kick off various scans and reconnaissance activities
  • Take a consultative and willingness to help the organisation approach on security
  • Oversee the prioritisation, resource allocation, budgeting, reporting, and coordination of cyber security service requests. Act as the primary contact to ensure services are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Build and sustain strong, proactive relationships with internal stakeholders and business partners. Facilitate open communication and collaboration to align expectations and deliver effective security solutions.
  • Manage vendor-delivered security services, ensuring compliance with service level agreements and contractual commitments. Promote continuous improvement and issue resolution through strong vendor partnerships aligned with organisational security goals.

You're a confident and collaborative leader with a strong foundation in cyber security and a passion for delivering high-quality services. You bring a customer-first mindset, thrive in complex environments, and are skilled at balancing competing priorities while driving continuous improvement.

You'll stand out if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience leading cyber security service delivery, including vendor management, incident response, and service optimisation.
  • A track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders and navigating complex service challenges with a solutions-focused approach.
  • Solid knowledge of NSW Government compliance requirements and security frameworks such as ISO 27001, ASD, and the Protective Security Policy Framework.
  • A sound understanding of core cyber security principles and hands-on experience with incident management processes.
  • The ability to analyse performance data, identify trends, and drive informed decision-making to improve service outcomes.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, information and technology or related technical field and/or relevant experience.
