Job Description Summary

The MCU Lead Technician is responsible for leading and ensuring that assigned Major Component Upgrade (MCU) operations are executed according to GE's priorities: SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost). They must ensure the highest standards related to EHS, execution quality, on-time delivery, and cost optimization to meet customer expectations. The role involves leading the entire operation, interfacing with all involved parties, and identifying improvements in SQDC areas.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead at site and be responsible for each assigned Major Component Exchange operation, including preparation, coordination, execution, and reporting.
  • Guide all parties involved in MCU to achieve high EHS, quality, and cost standards. Serve as a technical advisor on-site.
  • Ensure all active workers, including contractors, have proper qualifications, documentation, and skills, performing tasks to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate with MCU PM, GE Service Teams, Contractors, and other functions to deliver optimal MCU execution and address unexpected events.
  • Proactively identify and address potential unplanned situations to ensure smooth execution.
  • Manage necessary documentation and internal reporting.
  • Suggest improvements in SQDC and collaborate on developing new tools and methodologies to increase efficiency and safety.
  • Review and provide feedback on MCU Work instructions (WDIs), supporting the Methods & Process team in updates.
  • Comply with statutory and GE internal EHS requirements.
  • Operate WTG as needed for MCU purposes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 3 years' experience leading crane operations in end-to-end execution.
  • At least 3 years' experience in the Wind Maintenance sector or related energy/industrial segments.
  • Strong safety and quality mindset.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and abroad (>85%) and adjust working hours to operational windows.
  • Fluent in English and another European language.
  • Effective team leader with quick learning, ownership, and ability to work in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • High leadership at site with safety and quality awareness, proactive issue anticipation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work at heights and physically fit.
  • Familiar with Wind Turbine Generator mechanical/electrical areas.
  • Proficient in MS Office and GE software tools.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Class B driving license and AU Work Permit.

Note: As GE Vernova operates across time zones, working outside normal hours may be required.
