Overview

Head of Special Education Services (HO1) - Haigslea State School - Special Education Program

Lead a distinctive and community-focused school in Queensland's rural education landscape. A permanent appointment is available for a Head of Special Education Services to join Haigslea State School, commencing 20 October 2025. Haigslea State School is seeking a passionate and experienced leader to champion inclusive education as Head of Special Education Services. In this pivotal role, you will foster a culture of equity and excellence for students with disability, leading high-quality teaching practices and ensuring appropriate adjustments in line with current legislation and policy. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and help shape a supportive, inclusive school environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
  • Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
  • Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
  • Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
  • Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.
