SeaLink WA operates 3 local business units: Captain Cook Cruises, SeaLink Rottnest Island, and the government-contracted Transperth Ferry Division. With up to 11 vessels, there are opportunities to gain experience across various vessel operations.

About the Role

The Master less than 24m / MED 2 role is for the Transperth Ferry Division. It is suited for an experienced Near Coastal Master seeking additional shifts during spring/summer (0-3 per week).

The primary responsibility is ensuring safe and reliable transport between Perth and South Perth. The Master operates solo with local support available. Duties include:

  • Navigation, mooring, loading, maintenance, and emergency procedures management,
  • Conducting drills as scheduled,
  • Managing disruptions and communicating with customers,
  • Overseeing maintenance of deck equipment and engine rooms,
  • Maintaining vessel cleanliness and organizing stores and equipment,
  • Displaying professionalism and high work ethics,
  • Ensuring timely arrivals/departures in compliance with regulations.

About You

  • Proven leadership and people management skills,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills,
  • Ability to work autonomously for extended periods,
  • Good vessel handling knowledge,
  • Flexibility, reliability, and customer service experience,
  • Ability to handle difficult situations,
  • Well-presented appearance,
  • Marine tourism industry experience (desirable).

  • Master less than 24m NC – Essential
  • Marine Engine Driver – Essential
  • First Aid and CPR Certification – Essential
  • Current Driver's Licence – Essential
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and WHS Regulations – Essential
  • Commercial Marine Experience – Desirable
