Kinetic IT is seeking a skilled and proactive Security Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Systems team, with a key focus on Vulnerability Management and incident triage across BAU and Project initiatives.
In this role, you'll work directly with technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Purview DLP and Crowd Strike to detect, assess, and respond to threats. Experience with Rapid7 will be highly regarded and considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities will include:
- Monitor and investigate security alerts using Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, and Crowd Strike.
- Respond to and triage security incidents, contain threats, engineering and implementing remediation activity.
- Conduct and manage vulnerability scans using Rapid7, and work with teams to address findings.
- Enhance detection capabilities and automate security processes to improve response times.
- Produce clear, actionable documentation and reports on security incidents and risk posture.
What you'll bring to the table:
- Experience working with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Sentinel
- Hands-on experience with CrowdStrike for threat detection and response
- Knowledge of vulnerability management practices and tools (e.g., vulnerability scanning, risk assessment)
- Familiarity with incident triage and response processes
- Ability to interpret security logs and alerts from various sources (EDR, SIEM, firewalls, etc.)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals (threat vectors, MITRE ATT&CK, common vulnerabilities, etc.)
- Solid documentation and reporting skills using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
