About North Western Program Alliance

North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) consists of three Alliance partners – John Holland, KBR, MTM, V/Line and the client (LXRP), working together as one team to achieve shared goals.

Since 2017, NWPA has had a proven track record with the successful delivery of eight level crossing removal projects (13 LX) and several premium stations, with two projects currently in delivery (4 LX) and three in development phase.

We are looking for an Environmental Coordinator to join us.

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do:

As the Environmental Coordinator your main responsibility will be to coordinate the implementation of project environment programs to ensure adherence with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, contractual obligations and North Western Program Alliance Environmental procedures.

  • Provide environmental guidance, diligence and consistency to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and input into the identification and effective management of environmental risks.
  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing management of project environmental management systems.
  • Communicate environment matters to management and project staff as appropriate.
  • Support the management of environmental consultants and undertake field monitoring as required.
  • Support the maintenance of comprehensive environmental records.
  • Identify and initiate localised environment improvement initiatives.
  • Manage environmental monitoring devices and data.
  • Carry out site inspections and coordinate actions for improvement of environmental risk management.
  • Report environmental performance, compliance and defects.
  • Support project induction and environmental management systems/tools training.
  • Influence a positive Environmental culture across the project and John Holland.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.

To be successful in this key role, we are looking for:

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability, Law or other associated disciplines.
  • Construction environment management (>2 years).
  • Knowledge of compliance and reporting procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of environmental management techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of low level incident investigations.
  • Reporting, auditing and risk management procedures and processes.
  • Reporting environmental performance, compliance, defects and non-compliance.
