Now Hiring: Finance Business Partner

We are assisting a leading organisation in the Oil & Gas sector to recruit an experienced Finance Business Partner for a contract position of 4 to 6 months. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing team, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering financial insights, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with international standards.

About the Role:
The Finance Business Partner will oversee financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis to support operational and strategic objectives. You will lead a small team, manage complex project financials, and provide key insights to senior stakeholders. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to partner effectively across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of two finance professionals, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of accounting activities, including project financials, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, maintaining compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Oversee project financials, including sales and cost accruals, unbilled transactions, and accrued income.
  • Partner with finance and cost control teams to drive timely and accurate monthly project closures.
  • Manage standard costing processes and monthly reconciliations.
  • Oversee payroll charge reconciliations, accruals for revenue/cost, annual leave, and long-service leave.
  • Manage cashflow planning and liquidity reporting to ensure timely vendor payments, payroll, and tax obligations across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Oversee accounts payable, treasury payment releases, and accounts receivable management, including follow-ups on aged receivables.
  • Support audits, year-end disclosures, and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Provide analysis of overhead costs, prepare monthly reporting packs, and support the Finance Director with project P&L reviews.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and achieve organisational objectives.
Skills & Experience:
  • Degree in Accounting with CPA/CA qualification (or near completion).
  • 7-10 years of core accounting experience, including at least 5 years in Project Finance.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of Oil & Gas project finance exposure.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Solid business understanding with the ability to link financial insights to industry and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in ERP/financial systems (Oracle preferred) and financial software, with strong data analytics capability.
  • Skilled in interpreting financial statements and assessing overall business performance.
  • Strong cost management expertise, including activity-based costing (ABC), cost control, and efficiency improvement strategies.
This role offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact in a dynamic and challenging industry, working closely with senior leadership to shape financial strategy.
