Overview

Aviation High is looking for a reliable and hands-on Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our school community. In this role, you'll carry out a variety of routine maintenance and groundskeeping tasks, ensuring the school is always presented at a high standard. This is a progressive position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and carry out repairs and maintenance on school infrastructure including furniture, equipment, locks, and windows, maintaining detailed records in line with Work Health and Safety protocols.
  • Support the setup and logistical needs of significant school events such as assemblies, school performances, and major events.
  • Manage delivery and collection of mail, parcels, important documents, and messages throughout the school, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
  • Operate and maintain security systems, ensuring the safety of school buildings by managing alarm systems, and locking/unlocking facilities during core hours.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Principal, Business Manager, or delegated staff regarding scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks, prioritising facility upkeep.
  • Demonstrate proven hands-on experience in building maintenance, including routine repairs and upkeep of school facilities, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve common maintenance issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, locks, windows, and general carpentry.
  • Manage tools, equipment, and maintenance records in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with external tradespersons and contractors to ensure timely and effective completion of repair and maintenance work.
