As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

The Pathology Technician will perform technical anatomical pathology laboratory work requiring the application of conventional practices, methods and standards performed under the general technical direction and general technical supervision of the Medical Scientist in Charge. The work includes the performance of routine and specialised procedures on a range of specimens and the preparation of specimens for examination, diagnosis and additional procedures.

You will need:

  • Knowledge of histology and cytology technical principles and practices, including specimen preparation for examinations.
  • Awareness of laboratory safety requirements and procedures, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with members of a team.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 53.2 hours per fortnight,commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:$73,811 to $79,779 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • An Associate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work
