About The Role

Student Support Services (SSS) works with schools and preschools to provide support to meet the needs of all children. The role requires the incumbent to participate in the implementation of a service model that supports the provision of integrated and targeted services to meet the needs of children and young people with additional needs. The Psychologist is a member of an inter-disciplinary team and works with children and young people with developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical difficulties, and exceptional needs (including giftedness) and their families. The Psychologist collaborates with preschool and school staff and parents to develop evidence-based psychology interventions that can be adapted for learning and home contexts. SSS values Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing and being.

At both the AHP2 and AHP3 levels, this position will work under the professional support and direction of the Senior Psychologist.

Responsibilities
  • Address a wide range of issues including learning difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma, and behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate with families, school staff, and other professionals to implement proactive, targeted, and intensive interventions.
  • Operate with professional direction and support from a Senior Psychologist.
AHP2 – Psychologist
  • Deliver targeted assessments and interventions to children and students with increasingly complex needs.
AHP3 – Psychologist
  • Provide expert psychological services and mentorship to other professionals.
  • Work with students with complex and co-morbid conditions, including rare neurodevelopmental and behavioural challenges.
  • Lead in the development and delivery of advanced interventions.
  • Provide supervision and professional support to AHP1 and AHP2 psychologists.
  • Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Current and full registration (general) with the Psychology Board of Australia (both AHP2 and AHP3 level).
  • Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor (AHP3 level only).

Desirable:

  • Area of practice endorsement – educational and developmental psychology and/or clinical psychology and/or counselling psychology (AHP3 level only).
Special Conditions

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to employment, renewable every five years. The incumbent will undertake RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course, updated every three years. Remuneration

AHP2: $88,255 - $102,240 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (11.5%)

AHP3: $104,180 - $111,746 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (11.5%)

Note: The position will be filled at either AHP2 or AHP3 classification level based on skills, knowledge, experience and level of responsibility.
