About you

The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for supporting safe, effective and patient-centred care within the CCU. This part-time 0.5 FTE role will provide education and guidance to staff across all levels of experience, from novice through to advanced. Education areas include, but are not limited to, cardiothoracic surgery, pacing, ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy and inotropes.

Key responsibilities
  • Provides teaching and evidence-based learning to staff to optimise patient outcomes, with consideration for the needs of rostered shift workers
  • Ensures all new nursing staff receive and complete orientation programs and core clinical competencies (including Day 1 and Day 30 Checklists)
  • Participates in the assessment of clinical competencies and supports staff development where practice needs are identified
  • Facilitates education by engaging clinical expertise to deliver effective learning opportunities
  • Promotes the integration of evidence-based practice within the clinical setting
What you bring

Previous experience in a similar role

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current practising certificate
  • Post Graduate qualification relevant to the position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current nursing issues and practices relevant to the role
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Cardiothoracic ICU nursing
  • Experience coordinating staff education, with an understanding of staffing and managerial responsibilities
  • Minimum five years post-graduate experience in area of clinical practice
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Risk Management and WH&S requirements
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to undertake within the first year)
