As a member of the Korea L&H Valuation team, which sits within the APAC Actuarial function, your role will focus on supporting the production of IFRS and SII results. The role covers SCOR's business written in Korea and Japan.

This includes supporting work on various areas such as preparing quarterly reserves, uploading these into SCOR's systems (accounting system and reserving data warehouse), and producing reports.

You will have the opportunity to liaise with colleagues across the SCOR group, explaining the results to stakeholders.

About the Department: APAC Actuarial

The APAC Actuarial team is based in SCOR's offices in Singapore, Sydney, Beijing, and Seoul, covering Life & Health and Property & Casualty business across approximately 30 countries and 13 legal entities. We are a diverse team providing expert actuarial analysis and insight, led by the Head of L&H Reserving for Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Support the production of IFRS 4, IFRS 17, Solvency II, and K-ICS results for the North Asia market.
  • Assist in drafting actuarial valuation reports for IFRS and Solvency II for North Asia.
  • Standardize and improve reserving processes, analysis, and controls.
  • Improve tools and methodology.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Exposure to insurance/reinsurance business from education or internships.
  • Experience in experience analysis and setting best estimate assumptions.
  • Experience in reserving/valuation, including best estimate liability valuation, IFRS 17, and Solvency II preferred.
  • Experience producing and reviewing future cash flows using actuarial software, preferably Prophet.
  • Ability to review others' work and manage tasks independently.

Personal Competences:

  • Fluent Korean speaker with good written & conversational English.
  • Enjoys working at pace in a close-knit team and independently when needed.
  • Curious and enthusiastic about continuous improvement.
  • Technical skills in SQL, Python, and Excel VBA.
