Release Manager – Federal Government Department | 12-Month Contract | Perth CBD

We're seeking an experienced Release Manager to join a major Federal Government department based in Perth's CBD on an initial 12-month contract. This role plays a critical part in supporting national ICT transformation initiatives, helping to deliver secure, high-quality system releases that align with business goals and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Release Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Establishing and maintaining robust release management processes in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Managing the release schedule to align with technical dependencies, business priorities, and change management needs.
• Conducting impact assessments and coordinating successful release execution.
• Overseeing readiness reviews and go/no-go checkpoints with business and technical teams.
• Ensuring compliance with ICT change management processes, including cyber security assessments, penetration testing, and CAB protocols.
• Reporting on release status, highlighting risks, dependencies, and decision points to stakeholders.
• Acting as a liaison between technical teams, testers, environment managers, and business stakeholders.
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives and driving automation across release processes.
  
  

About The Team

You'll be part of the Transformation and Digital Delivery Branch, which designs and delivers technology solutions that improve the integrity and performance of national systems, including those helping to prevent fraud and non-compliance. The team plays a key role in realising the goals of their review, placing people with disability at the centre of system improvements.

Essential Experience

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience establishing and managing release processes in large, complex ICT environments.
• Proven ability to deliver enterprise systems using modern platforms, tools, and integrated solutions.
• Strong knowledge of release lifecycle, change governance, and software development/delivery methodologies.
• A track record of driving automation and efficiency within release management.
• Risk management experience including handling of hotfixes and rollback procedures.
• Prior experience in a Federal Government ICT environment.
  
  

Desirable

• Interest or experience in accessible design and development.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and how it integrates with change and release functions.
  
  

This role is open only to Australian Citizens due to federal clearance requirements.
