Overview

Based at Deception Bay and working as part of the Family Support Services (SE Qld) leadership team, the Coordinator - Communities for Children role oversees our Communities for Children (CfC) program, including supporting and leading the team to ensure we deliver on our role as Facilitating Partner. The Communities for Children initiative is a federally funded, whole of community response aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of children aged 0-12 years in the Deception Bay community.

  • Managing the contract and driving community consultation
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify strategies and codesign service models
  • Lead the team in the delivery of community development activities and project work that builds capacity and drives the development of an integrated and skilled local service system
  • Develop and monitor Community Partner contracts and event specific service agreements
  • Monitor and assess the performance and effectiveness of services provided by Community Partners and other CfC funded stakeholders
  • Actively participate in and contribute to strategic planning, tender processes and support of the CfC Deception Bay Committee and the CfC Deception Bay Child and Family Alliance
  • Program administration, reporting, compliance and continuous improvement
  • Cultivate positive relationships with key stakeholders and maintain regular consultative and collaborative processes with CfC Priority Groups
  • Attend and facilitate community information sessions, local reference groups and other forums and network activities

This is a maximum term position funded until 30 June 2026. Subject to continued funding, the position may lead to a permanent position.

What we are looking for

You will understand that relationships are key and will be skilled in bringing key stakeholders on board and developing high level strategic relationships. Ideally you will bring a strong understanding of the local community (or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire) and will enjoy integrating with the broader leadership group to provide an integrated service delivery.

  • passion, commitment and belief in young people
  • degree level qualifications in community development, social work, human services, or similar and a minimum of 3 years' experience in leading child and family initiatives
  • demonstrated skills in community development and ability to build effective, collaborative and supportive partnerships
  • ability to enter into a codesign process with key stakeholders
  • knowledge and understanding of child and family programs and the diverse range of issues impacting on children, families and communities
  • strong understanding of culturally appropriate ways of working
  • experience in coordinating programs including administration, managing budgets and monitoring contracts
  • strong ability to coordinate, lead and influence a range of external stakeholders and partners to meet communities\' needs
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to present and analyse data and reports
