Join our team of dedicated instrumental music teachers and become a part of Queensland's renowned Instrumental Music Program. We are currently recruiting for vacancies across the state and welcoming applications to consider for future opportunities. The co-curricular Instrumental Music Program, provides students with the opportunity to learn band or orchestral instruments and participate in performance ensembles such as concert bands and orchestras. With over 500 instrumental music teachers and more than 60,000 students, our program is internationally recognised as a leader in the field of instrumental music education.

As an instrumental music teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering our comprehensive curriculum to students across the state. You will work as an itinerant teacher, directing ensembles and teaching mixed instrument groups across a cluster of schools. We are looking for skilled music educators that are passionate about student engagement. The Department of Education are currently accepting applications for Instrumental Music Teachers across all regions. Please review the attached Current Vacancies sheet for information relating to specific vacancies across the state.

Applicants For These Positions Must Possess

  • A degree in music OR a relevant teaching qualification. Click here for further information on teaching qualifications.
  • Teachers working in Education and Care Services require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services. Instructors must hold a current Blue Card and undergo a criminal history check. For more information on blue cards and exemption cards, please CLICK HERE .
  • Working rights in Australia, which means you have, or you are eligible to obtain a valid Australian Visa with work rights (if you're not already an Australian Citizen or resident).
