Process Technician

This role is based in Jerrabomberra on the border of NSW/ACT, approximately 30 minutes from Canberra CBD.

We're seeking expressions of interest for a Process Technician role, with flexibility based on experience. You'll bring hands-on, practical experience in the field, thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, and enjoy rolling up your sleeves and being close to the process. You'll be responsible for operating and monitoring chemical production equipment, supporting separation and purification processes, maintaining production efficiency, and ensuring safety and quality standards.

We welcome candidates with varying levels of experience in chemical or process manufacturing who are committed to operational excellence and safety.

• Operate and monitor chemical production equipment, including pumps, valves, reactors, filters, and control systems, to ensure the smooth operation of the chemical line.
• Monitor and test process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and levels to ensure compliance with established standards and make necessary adjustments as required.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance activities on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions or abnormalities.
• Maintain an organised production area and manage workflow.
• Monitor and control the chemical process from start to finish, including raw material intake, mixing, reaction, purification and crystallisation.
• Maintain and report accurate records of production and R&D data, including batch numbers, quantities produced, equipment settings, and deviations from SOPs and testing methods.
• Perform quality control tests on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods to ensure they meet quality specifications and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, spills, and other incidents. Report any safety concerns to the supervisor and the WHS officer immediately.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including ensuring all equipment is washed down or packed away at the end of each task or shift.
• Collaborate with engineers, maintenance technicians, and quality assurance personnel to perform research and development, troubleshoot issues, and improve process efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to optimise productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Follow good manufacturing practices (GMP) and Dangerous Goods (DG) handling and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, such as environmental regulations and quality standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Additional technical or vocational training in chemical processing, separation processes, or water treatment is highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a Chemical Line Process Operator or similar role within the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and instrumentation.
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to chemical handling and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and ability to perform basic laboratory tests.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as process flow diagrams, operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

• Additional Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 kg, stand and work with PPE for extended periods (safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, respirator, etc.).
