Project Overview

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership"

Major Responsibilities

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineeringmethods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a project or assignment insupport of a global business unit or staff group to include the preparation of originaldesigns layouts, details, drawings and specifications .
• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components andprocesses utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), designstandards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs,reports or proposals.
• Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas withspecialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor,contractors, construction and other functional groups .
• When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineeringpersonnel for specific tasks or projects.
• Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and willinteract with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agencypersonnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
• Provides technical inputs and evaluations in support of the procurement of mechanical equipment, including pre-award activities and post-award support of equipment suppliers.
• Other duties as required.
  
  

Education And Experience Requirements

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  
  

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline, and of engineering work planning and control methods.
• Experience in Copper with slurry pumping and handling systems (compulsory)
• Experience in the design and specification of bulk materials handling equipment and other mechanical equipment commonly used in mining and metals projects.
• Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
• Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved. Broad knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the mechanical discipline.
• Knowledge of application and coordination of 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools on a project.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Candidate to nominate any past experience with:
• Copper projects
• Hydrogen liquefaction and ammonia production
