Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
About The Role
Provide senior management and leadership in the provision of family law services to socially and economically disadvantaged people in accordance with the Legal Aid NSW Strategic Plan and the Family Law Division Business Plan. This includes directly providing legal services to clients of Legal Aid NSW, including in more complex matters.
About You
You are a dedicated family law and care and protection solicitor with the ability to represent vulnerable clients. Your passion for delivering fair and compassionate outcomes is evident in your ability to navigate complex legal matters with empathy and professionalism. You have experience supervising other lawyers or the willingness to develop the skills to support and mentor other lawyers in the team.
Your strength lies in building and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships in the care and protection practice, including managing panel lawyer allocations and resolving queries with clarity and confidence. You are a collaborative team player who contributes to a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, while also demonstrating leadership in service delivery and continuous improvement. Your people-focused approach ensures that both clients and colleagues feel heard, respected, and empowered.

The essential requirements for this role
- be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
- be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us
- be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
- hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency(for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
- live in NSW or willing to relocate to NSW
- Valid Driver Licence and/or capacity to travel regularly, and to regional and remote areas
