Overview

Quality Engineer Consultant performing quality control tests and analysis to ensure software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements. Collaborates with the development team to establish testing strategy and acceptance criteria, and to develop and execute automated and manual testing. Leads test execution activities, participates in artifact review meetings, identifies QA process issues, and coaches others on QA processes. Authors basic test matrices, takes ownership of QA planning tasks, translates business needs into work, and leads a small QA team while creating, editing, and updating automated test scripts.



Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure software meets specified standards
  • Collaborate with the development team to establish testing strategy and acceptance criteria
  • Develop and execute automated and manual testing
  • Identify and escalate QA process issues appropriately
  • Coach others on correct QA processes at a basic level
  • Author basic test matrices from business/technical requirements with some supervision
  • Lead a small team with some oversight


Qualifications and Skills
  • Understanding of QA activities in relation to systems development lifecycle
  • Reading business requirements, creating test cases, test script libraries, tracking bugs, and creating test frameworks
  • Manual test execution tasks related to test scripts/cases and defects
  • Developing software applications in Microsoft environments
  • Programming, scripting, performance testing
  • Development standards and SDLC processes/methods
  • Experience with third-party controls that help with requirements gathering, documentation, system and design process
