About the role
Join AGL's Engineering Graduate Program and experience a rewarding career with Australia's leader in the energy sector. We are looking for passionate graduates who want to be at the forefront of Australia's energy transition.
Our next Program intake commences in January 2026 . This program runs for 2 years, consisting of 3 x 8-month rotations.
AGL's Engineering Graduate program exists to recruit, hire, and develop new engineering talent to become the future engineers and leaders of AGL.
The program nurtures Graduates by offering them a series of rotational assignments in diverse engineering roles, across varied locations. By engaging with a broad spectrum of assets, teams, and projects, participants acquire a comprehensive skill set and experiences that lay a solid groundwork for a successful engineering career.
The primary locations where rotations occur are:
- Bayswater Power Station, Muswellbrook NSW
- Loy Yang Station or Mine, Traralgon VIC
- Melbourne, VIC
What the program offers:
- Structured professional and technical development, supporting Chartership pathways
- Comprehensive on-the-job training, including RTO-facilitated learning
- Dedicated personal mentors
- Supportive graduate community with social activities
- Company-provided accommodation during site rotations
What you'll be doing:
- Completing assigned rotations throughout various engineering disciplines and teams.
- Projects and program support, ensuring deliverables are timely and to standard.
- Operating within engineering teams and performing tasks relevant to sites/assets/teams.
- Asset management, maintenance and optimisation of plant, systems and equipment.
- Participate in the development and implementation of engineering strategies.
- Design, development, testing, and optimisation activities.
- Investigations and analysis on plant and systems and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare factual and technical reports, for both engineers and laypersons.
What will you bring to AGL?
- 4-year bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Chemical preferred).
- Must have graduated between 2023 – 2025.
- A strong desire to develop a career within the power generation industry.
- Safety as a core value and an understanding of operational site safety requirements.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and a respect for a diverse workforce.
- Genuine desire to work in new environments and embrace change
- A willingness and ability to geographically relocate (for 8-month rotations).
- The ability to be respectful in shared AGL housing (unisex accommodation).
- Must have the right to work in Australia, any Visas must be valid for the full 2 years.
- Valid and current Australian Driver's License and car (essential for site access).
