About The Team
The ASD Psychology Services team is a large group of psychologists and other professionals supporting ASD's mission. We provide a supportive and collaborative environment for our psychologists to apply their clinical and forensic skills in support of National Security. Our services are delivered across locations in Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne.
About The Role
The ASD6 Security Psychologist role offers opportunities to develop clinical or forensic skills supporting core security functions. Responsibilities include formulating complex assessments using psychometrics, managing a therapeutic client load, delivering specialised training, and contributing to team management of complex cases and organisational initiatives.
The EL1 Security Psychologist is a senior clinician who, in addition to ASD6 duties, can lead a portfolio area, develop governance, provide advice to ASD leadership, and engage with stakeholders. There is also an opportunity to develop clinical supervision and leadership skills.
Our roles support professional interests with ongoing clinical supervision to meet registration requirements.

Salary includes a skills payment of 25%, 35%, or 40% additional remuneration based on qualification criteria.
Qualifications, Experience & Training:
The ASD6 candidate must:
- Be studying toward a Masters in psychology (ACAP approved Clinical or Forensic Psychology program)
- Be eligible for, or hold, current unconditional registration with AHPRA
- Be eligible for or completing a Psychology Board of Australia endorsed pathway in Clinical and/or Forensic Psychology
- Be a member of the Australian Psychological Society
Early career psychologists or registrars are encouraged to apply.
The EL1 candidate must:
- Have a Masters in psychology (ACAP approved Clinical or Forensic Psychology)
- Have a Psychology Board of Australia endorsed pathway in Clinical and/or Forensic Psychology
- Hold current unconditional registration with AHPRA
- Be a member of the Australian Psychological Society
Senior clinicians with equivalent qualifications are encouraged to apply.
