
DevOps Engineer – Air Traffic Management MosaiX

The Frequentis Group is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. These 'Control Centre Solutions' are developed and distributed by Frequentis in the business segments Air Traffic Management (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management, air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, vessel traffic and railways). In Cluj we started in 2009 and our local team currently has 190+ colleagues and is growing. You will work on a microservices based framework MosaiX utilized across the company to run and integrate multiple Frequentis Air Traffic Management products. You will develop reusable services, software packages and libraries to be used by other teams in the company. The platform runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, handles the deployment and configuration of the OS and supports the configuration and orchestration of containerized services. You will contribute to continuously modernize and evolve our deployment and configuration automation solution, to keep up with state of the art technologies and methodologies. We are developing for a safety-critical environment, following industry standards, where high availability and redundancy are basic requirements.
Key Tasks- Design, implement and maintain automation solutions for deployment, configuration and verification of the MosaiX infrastructure and auxiliary layers.
- Develop Puppet/Ansible based automation code to deploy and configure the operating system and its Docker based service runtime providing logging, monitoring and security facilities.
- Integrate and automate configuration of open source third party services onto the MosaiX Platform (i.e. Redhat Identity Management, Cassandra, Zabbix, Postgres, Etcd, RabbitMQ, Keycloak, OpenSearch, and more).
- As a power user, become a champion in using those services, to continuously improve usability and performance of them.
- Support product development teams migrating their applications to the MosaiX platform, ensuring alignment with the intended platform design and principles.
- Deep knowledge of Linux and container technologies (Docker).
- Hands-on experience with Puppet and Ansible.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Experience in software engineering practices like test-driven-development (TDD) to ensure high-quality software.
- IP networking know-how.
- Practical experience with CI/CD, and automation to improve efficiency in day-to-day development.
- Familiar with cloud-native concepts including experience with service-oriented architecture and infrastructure as code solutions.
- Previous experience with Kubernetes, RedHat HA and DRBD (or other replicated storage solutions) is a plus.
- Positive mindset towards DevOps, agility and teamwork.
- Openness to new technologies and willingness to also learn niche technologies used in safety-critical environments.
- Willingness to work with cross-cultural teams in a safety-critical environment.
- Good English skills (both written and spoken).
