Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Swinburne University of Technology Full time
  • Join the dynamic and innovative Swinburne External Communications team
  • Fulltime, ongoing position at our Hawthorn campus
  • HEW 5 salary + 17% super

About The Role

If you know the difference between a TikTok trend and a tired one, can spot a viral sound before it explodes, and have more saved Reels than recipes in your camera roll – keep reading.

We're on the lookout for a Social Media Officer to help shape the voice of Swinburne University across TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and more. You'll be hands-on creating content, capturing student life, sharing University news and covering events, riding trends, and helping us build strong engagement across our online communities.

Working closely with the Social Media Manager, and the wider Communications and Media, Marketing and Future Students teams, you'll run day-to-day content on our channels: creating, planning, scheduling, engaging, analysing content that's both engaging for our diverse audiences and aligned with our social media and University strategies. You'll bring Swinburne stories to life – from a student DITL to a research breakthrough or a news explainer. Whether you're behind the camera, in front of it, or stitching content together in the edit, you're all about making slay content.

What will you bring to the role?
  • You've got plenty of experience (agency or client side) creating social media content and campaigns across multiple channels – TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube to be specific.
  • Lover of news, pop culture, tech and all the latest trends – you've binged all the latest drops, your TikTok algorithm is on point, you know the latest news in Australia and across the world and you're across all the trending influencers and brands.
  • You juggle priorities, deadlines and stakeholders like a pro.
  • You take pride in your work; you're meticulous with your planning, and execute with care, when preparing and delivering your social content and campaigns.
  • You're a savvy user of data to inform decision making.
  • Collaboration is your middle name (not literally. But if it is, cool).
  • You're an expert in creating your own content and just as comfortable reviewing supplied copy from a range of stakeholders on campus – you know exactly when it's nailed the brief.
  • You have experience using social media management and monitoring platforms like Hootsuite, Sprout Social and Brandwatch. You're also a pro with creative tools such as Adobe, Canva, Cap Cut and other content creation tools.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Excellent content production and editing skills combined with an ability to work under time pressure to produce high quality content
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to identify and analyse emerging opportunities
