Capability Life Cycle Manager (CLCM)The CLCM is integrated into the System Program Office (SPO) and contracted to deliver through-life asset management of Products being supported (PBS). The CLCM performs asset, sustainment and engineering functions to optimise availability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and minimise risk through the life of the PBS. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with Regional Maintenance Centres (RMC) to plan maintenance activities and installation of capability upgrades. The CLCM also collaborates with the Design Services Contract (DSC) to plan and execute engineering changes and services. The CLCM delivers functions against the contract scope across the Asset Class Enterprise to support Defence Maritime Capability.
The OpportunityKBR is seeking a Junior Naval Architect to support the Royal Australian Navy's fleet of Amphibious Combat and Sealift ships within our dynamic CLCM team.
Under the guidance of the Senior Naval Architect, you will contribute to engineering deliverables, focusing on technical matters such as structures, hull, hydrodynamics, and stability.
This role is based out of Garden Island, Sydney.
Responsibilities- Deliver Naval Architecture expertise and technical advice under supervision, supporting the Engineering activities of the CLCM.
- Autonomously deliver engineering outputs as per schedule.
- Ensure compliance with policies, plans, and processes; work according to the Engineering Management Plan.
- Develop tasking statements for design tasks aligned with planned schedules.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to develop design solutions considering Engineering Change Management, Configuration Management, Systems Safety, and Certification.
- Work within the Navy Seaworthiness framework and the ACSSPO AEO requirements.
- Verify Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against baseline requirements, Certification Basis, and Safety Case Report.
- Manage Request for Variations (RFV) to Return to Standard, Make Permanent, or Cancel before expiry.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to solve problems.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques independently, making minor adaptations as needed.
- Perform work involving conventional engineering practices, including complex features like conflicting requirements, systems integration, and materials issues.
Essential:
- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent in a recognized Engineering discipline
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a recognized professional body and Chartered Engineering registration
- At least 2 years of related Naval Architecture experience
- Eligibility for ITAR clearance for relevant ship systems
Desirable:
- Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review, and Acceptance within a regulated framework (e.g., Department of Defence)
- Experience in marine design or maintenance
