Role Overview

The purpose of the role is to design, develop, test, maintain, and provide assistance with the support of applications software.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, coding, testing and installing applications programs either in one major program or a range of programs across multiple platforms.
• Conducting design and code reviews, providing advice and support to more junior members of the team.
• Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining systems and program documentation.
• Analysis and design of applications programs and databases.
• Assist and advice in problem determination and resolution.
• Liaising with users to assist with problem determination.
• Work closely with the business analysts to evaluate possible solutions and refine the business and technical requirements.
• Ensure that solutions are developed within agreed time frames and to the agreed scope such that business requirements are met.
• Provide quality applications that are free of defects, fit for purpose, and designed for ongoing ease of support and maintenance.
• Develop solutions that meet the security and privacy standards.
• Adhere to published processes and procedures and recommend enhancements where appropriate.
• Effectively communicate the status of development activities to the Project Team.
• Exhibiting strong customer and service orientation.
• Working across teams and functions to ensure the ongoing health and performance of IT systems are maintained and enhanced.
• Well versed with Agile ways of working.
• Consistently responding rapidly to high severity systems problems; resolving them quickly and effectively.
• Effectively communicate across all levels of the organisation.

Required Skills And Experience

• 6+ years of experience in Programming and Applications Design, with a minimum of 4 years in a large IT site, coupled with tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Commercially proven experience in developing applications, including at least 4 years working with Microsoft .NET and proficient in C# language, architecture, and design standards.
• Frontend Development
  • Strong experience with ASP.NET and MVC for building responsive web applications.
• Backend Development
  • Proficient in .NET, .NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework.
  • Experience with Web API, SOAP services, and XML integration.
• Database
  • Solid knowledge of SQL Server and SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI).
• Cloud Platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• DevOps & Tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Terraform.
  • Proficient in Jira and Confluence for agile project management and documentation.
• Extensive knowledge of dependency injection and Entity framework.
• Developed knowledge of Object Orientated (OO) analysis and design, OO methodologies and techniques.
• Strong programming aptitude.
• Ability to understand the essential needs of users and meet these in well-designed programs.
• Experience in component and assembly testing.
• In depth knowledge of the SDLC.
• Knowledge of common debugging techniques.
• Experience in planning and estimating personal and other's work effort.
• Ability to communicate problems of a technical nature to all levels of management and users.
• Skills in conducting structured analysis and problem analysis.
