About The Department

Alfred Health Pharmacy is well recognised for high quality and innovative patient- focused services, education and training programmes as well as significant research output.The service operates over 4 sites within Alfred Health, and continually advocates for postgraduate learning and research interests, with supportive partnerships and expert mentors available to foster staff development.

The department also has a leading Digital Health strategy, playing a pivotal role in managing the electronic medication management system within our comprehensive electronic medical record (Cerner), with an advanced level of integration linking this to the Pharmacy Dispensing (iPharmacy) and Automated Medication Storage systems (Omnicell). This is complemented by a strongclinical presence and a Centre for Medicine Use and Safety program to achieve a considered, safe and financially responsible approach to medication management within Alfred Heath.

About The Team

The Pharmacy Operations team consists of both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working across all campuses and services across Alfred Health. Our operational workforce maintain the provision of our services across key areas of our business including Inpatient, Discharge and Outpatient dispensary services, Aseptic and Manufacturing services and Clinical Trials. The pharmacy department is recognised as an essential member of all clinical teams, actively engaging in a unit and team-based care model involving ward rounds and collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve excellent patient care outcomes. The service has 3 key priorities:

• Practice
• Education
• Research

As part of these priorities, the department holds a breadth of clinical stewardship and governance portfolios to ensure high quality and safety standards at all times. The department also has advanced education programs to support career progression, for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

About The Role

Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in medication delivery at Alfred Health to ensure patients' medications are available in a safe and timely manner.

As a Pharmacy Technician With Alfred Health You Will

• Work within a great team to support services across our inpatient, discharge, outpatient and aseptic manufacturing dispensaries. There are also opportunities for experienced technicians to work in our day procedures areas and coordinate our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme claiming.
• Assist in management of stock control
• Maintain competency by committing to education, training and personal development plans
• Effectively communicate to staff and patients
• Meet service demands as required
• Contribute to the ongoing development of our department and services.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Experience working as a pharmacy technician in a community or hospital pharmacy setting essential
• Certificate III or IV Pharmacy Technicians Course OR equivalent recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification highly desirable
