Description

Hitachi Rail seeks a Senior System Software Tester/Integrator to work within our Traffic Management System V&V Engineering team in Brisbane, Australia. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in testing and integrating software-intensive systems, applying best practices and safety-critical techniques based on international standards (CENELEC), with a focus on improving software quality and testing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and execute Factory and Site Tests to verify system requirements, architecture, interfaces, and scenarios.
  2. Develop test cases based on functional and non-functional specifications.
  3. Enhance automation of software testing within a continuous integration environment.
  4. Coordinate system requirements management activities.
  5. Contribute to test and integration plans, monitoring project activities and metrics.
  6. Maintain and discuss project issue lists with the Project Engineer and Manager.
  7. Engage constructively with diverse teams to achieve high-quality outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Systems, Software Engineering, or IT.
  • Rail Industry Worker card and current competencies.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in rail signalling.
  • Experience in automated testing of integrated systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in manual and automated system testing.
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices across the full development lifecycle.
  • Experience with server-side, front-end, and DevOps software languages (e.g., Java, Python, Selenium).
  • Experience with platforms like Linux, VMware, Docker/Podman.
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL or MariaDB.
  • Understanding of various network topologies.
