The Opportunity

Are you looking to kickstart your career in Local Government in Cowra and obtain a qualification whilst receiving on-the-job training? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Finance team as a Trainee - Customer Service Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Business (Customer Engagement).

The Trainee - Customer Service Officer is part of a small team who are the face of our organisation. The successful applicant will be passionate about delivering positive face-to-face customer service experiences and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for processing front counter and over-the-phone customer transactions and enquiries using a variety of computer systems, and liaising across departments to refer customer services enquiries to the relevant personnel.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to follow direction and procedures, while showing initiative
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy with high levels of data entry accuracy and speed
  • High resilience and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Previous experience in processing of credit card payments and cash handling (preferred)
