Clinical Coder – Hobart Private Hospital

• Permanent Full Time or Part Time - $41.61 to $43.01ph + Super + benefits

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our Medical Records team on a permanent basis. Your primary function will be to deliver efficient and accurate coding for all patient discharges and assist in medical record management and related activities to ensure an industry-leading customer service experience. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in supporting patient care, legal compliance, and administrative efficiency.

As a clinical coder, your responsibilities will include:

• Deliver exceptional coding service by accurately and efficiently assigning ICD-10-AM codes for patient discharges
• Provide excellent customer service to the department by assisting with medical record management activities
• Ensure compliance with the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards
• Engage in case mix analysis, education, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance overall performance
• Contribute to clinical documentation improvement efforts to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Support the timely extraction and submission of mandatory data reports, ensuring compliance and precision
• Ensure timely and accurate clinical coding to maintain high-quality data integrity
• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Information Management (or equivalent qualification)
• Be eligible for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia
• Possess effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff
• Have proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software
• Understand and adhere to privacy regulations to maintain confidentiality
• Be available for a minimum of 3 days per week (0.6FTE)
• Have knowledge of private sector funding models in Australia
• Be familiar with the WebPAS patient information system

If successful, your salary will be based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope Tasmania Non-Nursing Enterprise Agreement, ranging from $41.61 to $43.01 per hour.
