Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of surgical assistant skills in the operating theatre to support the Accredited Visiting Medical Officer (VMO).
  • Review patients in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit as required by and under the supervision of the Accredited VMO during business hours.
  • Review inpatients pre and post operatively at the request of the Accredited VMO during business hours.
  • Participate in Neurosurgery Department meetings.
  • Participate in clinical teaching opportunities.

What you'll need to succeed

Essential qualities:

  • AHPRA Registered Medical Practitioner with eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Third year postgraduate (PGY3) or above.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in specialty.
  • Recent experience working in Australia.

Desirable qualities:

  • Previous neurosurgery JMO experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to entering the Neurosurgery training program.
