DESCRIPTION

Amazon Australia Operations is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to support the growing volume and complexity of partnership agreements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing partnership agreements with carriers, executing sourcing strategies, conducting spend analysis, developing strategic partnerships, identifying vendors, and leading negotiations. This includes creating proposals, collaborating with internal teams (legal, finance, security, compliance), and closing deals.

The Procurement Manager must understand contract terms, compliance obligations, and business concerns, explaining contract details to stakeholders and identifying solutions to meet customer needs. They will lead efforts to resolve carrier questions during negotiations and collaborate internally on concerns.

This role involves bringing account teams and customers to final agreement, obtaining approvals, creating final contracts, and managing their execution. The candidate should be inquisitive, enthusiastic about delivery services, enjoy challenges, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.

This position can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Implement sourcing strategies to improve cost, capacity, and diversification by analyzing transportation capabilities against business needs.
  2. Identify and develop carrier partners, focusing on innovation, sustainability, speed, and customer experience.
  3. Provide leadership on executing competitive commercial and partnership deals.
  4. Develop commercial models and negotiate delivery service agreements.
  5. Execute contracts aligning with Amazon Australia operations objectives.
  6. Collaborate with global and local stakeholders to assess existing vendor tools and contracts, identifying gaps.
  7. Apply negotiation tools effectively.
  8. Engage directly with partners on commercial and contractual terms.
  9. Close transactions, brief senior management, and coordinate with stakeholders.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Lead partner negotiations confidently.
  • Explain standard agreement terms and negotiate fallback positions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor supporting strategy, negotiation, and execution of enterprise agreements.
  • Strong customer focus and commercial awareness.
  • Drive cross-functional engagement internally and externally.
  • Meet deadlines while managing multiple negotiations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Experience in data analysis, modeling, and forecasting to influence business processes.
  • Experience with commercial contracts and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, data mining skills, and proficiency with analytical tools.
  • Innovative mindset for developing new solutions and processes.
  • Ability to interpret large data sets and report findings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in business, commerce, engineering, or related fields; open to all bachelor's degrees.
  • Experience in fast-paced, complex environments like Supply Chain, e-Commerce, Consulting, or Finance.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, capable of engaging with senior management.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced setting.
