Overview

We are seeking a Legal Officer (General Legal) to join the Chancellery Division. The Legal Officer will be part of a dynamic in-house legal team. Reporting to QUT's General Counsel, the General Legal team is led by the Director, Legal Services and is responsible for providing a wide range of in-house legal advice to offices of the University, including the Vice-Chancellor, University Registrar and other members of the senior executive. We're offering this role as a hybrid position as part of QUT's commitment to embracing the opportunities created by a more virtual and connected world.

What You Need To Succeed
  • A degree in Law and admission as a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland, with at least a restricted practising certificate and at least 6 years post-admission legal experience (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to draft a wide variety of legal documents, with particular emphasis on drafting of agreements in a plain English drafting style.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate practical legal advice to a diverse range of clients across the University.
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with a sound ability to prioritise tasks according to competing deadlines and the ability to manage a high volume of work.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a legal team.
