Pooncarie Public School is a TP1 school, located on the banks of the Darling River in the Far West of NSW 120 km north of Mildura (Vic) and 250 km south of Broken Hill. The school is part of the Far West Network. Pooncarie is a low socio-economic rural school with a current enrolment of 8 students. The school motto is "Advancing Together". The staff include a teaching principal, a part-time classroom teacher, a part-time assistant principal curriculum and instruction, and a part-time school administration manager. The school aims to continuously improve teaching, learning and wellbeing and is well resourced for quality learning across KLA areas. Strong community relationships and high levels of community consultation are important.

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

• Demonstrated capacity to balance the complex teaching, administrative and leadership roles of a teaching principal, including inclusive individualised education programs focused on improving student outcomes across multi-stage class settings.
• Highly visible leader with strong interpersonal skills who builds a shared vision and inspires school improvement through fostering a culture of high expectations, cohesion, collaboration, and accountability.
• Demonstrated experience as an instructional leader who inspires staff to build a culture of expertise in classroom practice with a clear focus on explicit teaching, literacy and numeracy.
• An understanding of the needs of students in a rural and isolated community and a strong ability to collaborate and consult with all community groups.

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department\'s Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
