The Team:
The Anaesthetic Unit provides safe, high quality, care to patients/clients during elective and emergency procedural and surgical anaesthesia.
The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in the state and operates at a level 6 capability and provides acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for the Tasmania Health Service Hospitals South (THS Hospitals South) and is the tertiary referral for complex patients from THS Hospitals North and THS Hospitals Northwest. The RHH provides elective and emergency surgical services for THS Hospitals South.
The RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all surgical procedures with the exception of transplant surgery, complex paediatric surgery, paediatric cardiac surgery, major paediatric orthopaedic surgery and cochlear implant surgery.
RoleDeliver evidenced based care in accordance with the nursing care plan under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse/midwife.
- Participate in decision making with the multidisciplinary team to achieve planned patient outcomes.
- Assist in the collection of comprehensive clinical data from the patient/client and/or family.
- Sound knowledge of the principles of nursing care, procedures and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to practice in a manner that respects the right of individuals and groups.
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.

Details of appointmentMultiple, permanent, part time, shift worker positions, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary$70,980 to $78,179 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines)
