Overview

The Team: The Anaesthetic Unit provides safe, high quality care to patients undergoing elective and emergency procedural and surgical anaesthesia. The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in the state, operating at level 6 capability, and provides acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for THS Hospitals South. The RHH is the tertiary referral centre for most surgical procedures within THS Hospitals South, with exceptions including transplant surgery, complex paediatric surgery, paediatric cardiac surgery, major paediatric orthopaedic surgery and cochlear implant surgery.

The Role: Deliver evidenced based care in accordance with the nursing care plan under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse/midwife.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in decision making with the multidisciplinary team to achieve planned patient outcomes.
  • Assist in the collection of comprehensive clinical data from the patient/client and/or family.

  • Sound knowledge of the principles of nursing care, procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice in a manner that respects the rights of individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.

Details of appointment

Multiple, permanent, part-time shift worker positions, up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant. For a period of twelve (12) months from publication, this selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $70,980 to $78,179 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range based on Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type (where applicable).

Salary packaging is available, with access to a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment per FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines).
